Eurocopter Canada Announces Sale of a New EC130 T2 for the Corporate Market

Heli-Expo, Las Vegas, March 6th, 2013

Fox Aviation Purchases First EC130 T2 for Private Use in Canada

Eurocopter Canada announces the sale of a new EC130 T2 helicopter to Fox Aviation of Montreal, Quebec. The aircraft will be flown privately and is the third Eurocopter helicopter in the past 12 years selected by Fox Aviation. First was an EC120, then the EC130 B4 and now the EC130 T2, an evolution of the EC130 B4 helicopter, which was unveiled by Eurocopter at HAI last year and has found a niche across numerous markets.

“The selection of the EC130 T2 was easy due to the enhanced safety features of the helicopter. We ultimately appreciate Eurocopter’s incorporation of all the latest state-of-the-art technologies, materials, systems and avionics,” said Mr. Jean-Jacques Cossette, Owner of Fox Aviation.  “The aircraft is very quiet, extremely comfortable and offers a very smooth ride and provides great visibility, all excellent benefits.”

Although corporate helicopters in Canada would be considered a niche market, its operators have fully embraced single-engine aircraft including the EC120, EC130, and A350 family. The EC130 T2 is the perfect fit for private use as a light single-engine helicopter including all of the latest technology and a roomy modular cabin that can accommodate 1 pilot plus up to 7 passengers. It is the quietest helicopter on the market: its Fenestron® tail rotor and automatic variable rotor speed control result in a significantly reduced external sound level. The new generation piloting aids, such as the Vehicle and Engine Multifunction Display (VEMD®), reduces the pilot’s workload considerably, thus enhancing flight safety.

“The selection of the EC130 T2 by Fox Aviation supports Eurocopter’s focus on product improvements through innovation,” Mr. Guy Joannes, President & CEO, ECL. “Fox Aviation’s commitment to fly Eurocopter and introduce the first EC130 T2 into the Canadian market place is a strong signal that we are on the right track.”

The EC130 has evolved from the vast experience accumulated by some 220 operators; some 410 helicopters have been ordered in 50 countries. The in-service EC130 fleet has logged more than 820,000 hours and the fleet leader has flown 14,500 hours. The EC130 T2’s components are common with the Eurocopter light helicopter range, ensuring a reliable, high performance aircraft.  Its proven technology and simple design provide operators with an extremely high rate of availability.

This newcomer in the successful Ecureuil range is equipped with the brand new Safran Arriel 2D engine. This modern engine has increased reliability and extended time between overhauls as well as, lower fuel consumption.  This substantially increases the versatility of the EC130 T2. Thanks to its optimized maintenance cost and operational benefits; it is truly economically sound combined with the highest level of safety.
