The first Heli Expo for AIRBUS Helicopters had its share of launches for the company. Here is look at the recently unveiled new products that have generated excitement in the market place.

AIRBUS Helicopters Canada is developing the following STCs that would further enhance the versatility of this new generation helicopter. Expected dates of certification are also listed in the graphic below:

EC130 T2

This latest generation version incorporates all the modern technology evolutions bringing even more comfort, improved operational performance, flexibility and increased versatility to the successful EC130 platform. Its Safran Arriel 2D engine provided increase power at lower fuel consumption, while other features include and Active Vibration Control System and redesigned cabin interior structure.

The EC130 T2 has been certified in Canada on 31st January 2014 with first aircraft under completion at the Airbus Helicopters Canada facility. The first delivery is planned for June 2014 and will be preceded by an opportunity for Canadian operators to demo the aircraft in the month of May 2014. EC145 e

EXPH-0403-35

The EC145e is a new variant specially designed for the Utility/ Aerial Work, Fire Suppression and Passenger Transport markets. Some of the key features of the platform will be:

  • Increased useful load compared to the EC145 Utility Configuration (+112 kg/ 247 lbs)
  • Competitively priced with only VFR configuration available
  • Shorter lead times
  • Mission versatility – e.g. firefighting – ability to transport crew of 8 on standard seats

Flights tests have been successfully performed for this variant in August 2013. EASA/FAA certification is expected by the 3rd quarter of 2014 with additional countries to follow. The first deliveries are scheduled for the 4th quarter of 2014.
