Overview

H145 D3

H145 / Flight In The PyrÉnÉes (france)In 2020, a new innovative version of the H145 entered service equipped with a five-bladed main rotor. This new H145 embodies a major customer expectation: the ability to operate an aircraft with a great useful load. On that point, the H145 is over-performing, and surpassing all the competitors in its class. The latest version of Airbus’ H145 family has an additional 150 kg useful load, leading to the best useful load to maximum takeoff weight ratio for a light twin helicopter.

The new H145’s D-value (the largest overall dimension when rotors are turning) is further reduced, enabling the aircraft to land in even more confined areas. This agility makes the H145 the best choice for challenging EMS and public service missions.

Airbus has set a new standard in smoothness and flight comfort with its bearingless and hingeless five-blade main rotor. The strain on crews has been reduced considerably – improving overall mission efficiency. This innovation builds on the rotor’s simplified maintenance, increasing the availability rate – which is already remarkable on the H145.

EC145-T2‘The H145 is perfectly suited for the most demanding multi-purpose mission requirements’

The H145 (EC145 T2), the newest 4-ton class twin engine, multi-purpose helicopter in the Airbus Helicopters product range, is the latest evolution of the EC145/BK117 family. This family of aircraft has seen more than 800 deliveries worldwide and has accumulated more than 3 million flight hours.

Extended Mission Capabilities

EC145 T2 ExtendedSharing many basic features with the EC145, the H145 will be able to be equipped with the same optional equipment to carry out missions such as EMS, Law Enforcement, SAR, Business Aviation, oil and gas and utility.

The H145 comes with a 4-axis autopilot, optimizing the capabilities of the aircraft for over-water day and night SAR missions. This innovative autopilot, was developed specifically for helicopters, is already available and in operation on the H155, H175 and H225.

Technology Content

EC145The H145 combines Airbus Helicopters’ breakthrough technologies, including an advanced cockpit design, modern avionics, 4-axis autopilot and a Fenestron® tail rotor, with the rugged and proven designs of the BK117 family, such as the main rotor system. Thanks to its outstanding roomy and versatile cabin, this aircraft can accommodate up to 12 seats and can be configured for either one or two pilots.

Powerful

The H145 is equipped with two powerful and modern Safran
Arriel 2E engines, EC145 Engineeach controlled by a dual channel Full Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC), which, in combination with the aircraft’s lifting system, provide outstanding All Engine Operative (AEO) performance. The One Engine Inoperative (OEI) performance of this new aircraft version have been significantly improved. The H145 is capable of Category A operations up to Class 1 and Class 2 performance, according to EASA OPS.

The H145 sets the limits even higher:

  • Fenestron: A proven Airbus Helicopters tail rotor innovation with an anti-torque-device and redundant hydraulics. It is the ideal solution for 360° approachability at all times and the highest protection for those on the ground. The Fenestron allows for increased operations in dense urban areas and confined spaces (helipad, forest), where foreign object damage is a high risk.
  • Most advanced Human Machine Interface with innovative Airbus Helicopters avionics suite – 4-axis autopilot allows pilots to concentrate fully on their mission – New unique displays and alerting system concept for high awareness in all situations.
  • Full Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC) The Safran Arriel 2E engine-model brings modernity, with a new dual-channel FADEC generation, to enhance safety and decrease the pilot’s workload.

Environment Friendly

Equipped with the Fenestron®, which significantly reduces sound levels, the H145 is the quietest helicopter in its class. The all-composite structure and aerodynamic geometry of this tail boom also contribute to an optimized fuel consumption.

An Elegant Shape

With a refined interior and a pleasing exterior shape thanks to the Fenestron tail rotor, the H145 provides even the most demanding customers with solutions tailored to their specific needs.

H145

EC145 TechnologyThe H145 is equipped with two powerful and reliable Safran Arriel 1E2 engines which provide outstanding performance and vital power reserves in OEI scenarios. The use of the variable rotor speed and torque matching system (VARTOMS), known from the predecessor model BK117 C- 1, enhances overall flying comfort, and makes the H145 the quietest helicopter in its class at 6.7 decibels below ICAO noise level.

In addition to environmental and economical aspects, the rotor system together with high TBO gearbox and airframe components offer both low maintenance costs and high in service time for the helicopter due to the minimal scheduled maintenance required.

The H145 is the answer to an increasing demand for a multi-role helicopter. Modern and versatile, the H145, with its large range of optional equipment, provides outstanding flexibility for all types of missions.
