Houston, TX (Heli-Expo) – Eurocopter Canada Limited has signed an agreement to deliver multiple aircraft to Great Slave Helicopters based in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories.
Great Slave Helicopters has signed a deal to purchase one AS350 B3, one AS350 B2 and one EC130 B4 helicopters from Eurocopter Canada. All three aircraft are to be delivered in spring 2009. Great Slave Helicopters plans to use the helicopters in its mining exploration business.
Great Slave Helicopters has selected these three aircraft as a compliment to their existing fleet of twenty four Eurocopter aircraft. In the last two years, Great Slave Helicopters has already purchased two trios of Eurocopters (each including one AS350 B2, one AS350 B3 and one EC130) respectively delivered in 2006 and 2007.
“We’re hoping that these state-of-the art helicopters will help us continue to meet the demands of our diverse customer base,” said Adam Bembridge, President of Great Slave Helicopters. “All three models of aircraft have proven reliability and performance.”
The AS350 B3 is a high performance, single engine helicopter that offers superior ceiling and lift capacity. The aircraft has the capacity to carry six passengers plus a pilot, and comes with a VEMD multifunction cockpit display to reduce pilot workload and fatigue.
The B3 model builds on Eurocopter’s successful AS350 B2 helicopter, which has proven to be a preferred model in Canada’s civilian helicopter market. The EC130 B4 helicopter is mainly used in the passenger transport sector and fulfills needs in the corporate market segment due to the aircraft’s enlarged cabin, modern technology and comfort.
“We’re confident that Great Slave Helicopters will enjoy these models of aircraft immensely,” said Marie-Agnès Vève, President and Chief Executive Officer of Eurocopter Canada. “All three models should ensure their ongoing success.”
Eurocopter Canada is significantly growing its operations throughout the country, including an expansion of its main facility in Fort Erie, Ontario; the opening a new logistics facility in Richmond, British Columbia; and re-establishing its operations in Quebec. Eurocopter Canada forecasts that it will deliver its 500th helicopter in Canada within the next 12 months.
