V. Kelner Helicopters Buys EC 120B

Fort Erie, ON – September 28, 2007

V. Kelner Helicopters has purchased a new, state-of-art Colibri EC 120B helicopter from Eurocopter Canada Limited.  Founded by Chairman Frank Kelner – the man who brought the Swiss-built Pilatus PC12 fixed-wing aircraft into the Canadian market ten years ago – V. Kelner Helicopters provides charter rotary-wing service from ‘The Lakehead’; a.k.a. the city of Thunder Bay, Ontario.

“I wanted to give my customers at V. Kelner Helicopters an aircraft that is quiet, safe, fast, and truly comfortable to fly in,” says Frank Kelner. “With its forward-facing passenger seats, the EC 120B makes everyone feel like they are part of the crew. This really enhances the customers’ flying experience.”

“This is an aircraft that has kept up with the times.” He adds. “Today’s EC 120B offers the sophisticated level of high performance, passenger comfort, overall safety, and cost-effective operation that I’ve been looking for.”

The Colibri EC 120B is a multi-purpose single-engine helicopter that can carry up to four passengers plus pilot. Inside, the EC 120B is very quiet; 6.6 dB below the ICAO limit, to be precise. Outside, the EC 120B’s Safran ARRIUS 2F turbine engine delivers a fast cruise speed of 223 km/hour and a range of 710 km. Externally, the EC 120B’s shrouded Fenestron tail offers low external noise – 8.5dB below the ICAO requirement – and enhanced passenger and crew safety.

“V Kelner Helicopters is dedicated to providing the very best service to our customers,” Kelner concludes. “The EC 120B will help us do that.”

100 years of vertical flight

The first vertical flight ever made was made by Paul Cornu in 1907. Since then great pioneering spirit, technological advances and innovative ideas have turned the helicopter into an aircraft without which air rescue as we know it would be unimaginable and which makes a significant contribution towards the safety and protection of individuals and to economic development. Eurocopter is proud to join in celebrating this centenary and its own passion for helicopters in 2007.
